India exported the largest cryogenic LNG tanks from Kandla Port.

India has achieved significant achievements demonstrating its emerging role in the global energy infrastructure. The country’s largest ever cryogenic LNG storage tanks have been successfully exported from Deendayal Port Authority (Kandla Port). These tanks have been manufactured by Inox India Limited and have been sent to a mini-LNG terminal project being built in Nassau, the capital of Bahamas. This project is being prepared to support power generation in island areas.

A total of 10 high capacity cryogenic tanks have been exported under this project, each with a capacity of 1500 cubic metres. A regasification system is also included with these tanks, which will convert LNG into gas.

These tanks are based on vacuum-insulated and double-walled design, which are counted among the largest “shop-built” cryogenic storage units in the world. This type of engineering requires high levels of precision and advanced manufacturing techniques.

Handling this large and complex cargo reflects the strong infrastructure and logistics capability of Kandla Port. The safe transportation of such over-dimensional equipment also reflects the competitiveness of India’s ports at the global level.

This achievement is not only considered technical but also strategic. Through this export, India has taken steps towards establishing itself as a global supplier in the energy sector by strengthening the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

This mini-LNG terminal project being developed in the Bahamas is an example of how Indian technology and manufacturing capacity is now becoming an important part of the global energy supply chain. The move also showcases India’s technological prowess and that the country is now playing an important role in complex and high-impact international projects.
