Solution to West Asia crisis through dialogue, following UN Charter is necessary!
Speaking to IANS on Wednesday, he paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and supported India’s right to protect its citizens and territorial integrity.
On the first anniversary of the attack, Cossino said that this is a day to remember those people and express condolences to their families and loved ones who lost their loved ones in this terrorist attack.
“We want to commemorate this day, especially to pay tribute to those who died in this attack, to stand with their families and loved ones, and to unequivocally condemn terrorism in all its forms,” he said.
The ambassador said Argentina understands the threat of terrorism and stands strongly with India on this issue. “We support the Indian government and know what terrorism is,” he said.
Speaking on the global scenario, Cossino mentioned the complex situation in the Middle East, including the ongoing tension between the US and Iran, and expressed hope that a solution would be found through peace talks.
He said, “Everyone wants this conflict to end. We hope that peace efforts continue and that they will bring stability to the world and the global economy.”
On the growing competition between superpowers (especially in the context of the US and China), the Ambassador said that all countries should work together under the principles of the UN Charter to ensure global peace and security.
On the issue of energy security, he said oil still remains an important factor in global politics, although many countries are working towards diversification of energy sources. He described this strategy of India as a “step in the right direction” and said that Argentina can become an important partner for India in future in food security as well as energy security.
Finally, on India-Argentina relations, he said that efforts are ongoing to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries and high-level meetings are expected to resume in the near future.
