The stream of nationalism and development will reach Gangasagar, no one can stop it: Trivedi!

BJP national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government at a press conference in Kolkata on Sunday. He accused TMC of institutional corruption, increasing influence of criminals and dangerous appeasement politics.

Sudhanshu Trivedi, speaking to IANS, said that these three factors together have severely hampered the development of West Bengal and created an atmosphere of fear in the state. He claimed that the people of West Bengal are now leaving behind this fear and insecurity and turning towards BJP with full confidence and determination. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, BJP is assuring the citizens of the state of restoring development.

Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “There was a time when West Bengal, especially Kolkata, was considered the main center of development, industry, economic progress and employment. There was a saying in our childhood that everyone looked towards Kolkata for opportunities. But today the state has lagged behind under the rule of the TMC government.”

Referring to the schemes of the Central Government, he said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, initiatives like Mudra Yojana, Har Ghar Nal Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Swachhta Abhiyan and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana have provided special benefits to women. These schemes have given ownership rights to poor women and made them self-reliant.”

The BJP MP accused the TMC government of advising women not to go out after dark. “This is the government’s indifference towards women’s safety,” he said.

He questioned the name of TMC’s election manifesto as ‘Ishtehar’. He asked, “TMC often talks about Bengali language and identity, but why did they name their manifesto ‘Ishtehaar’? ‘Ishtehaar’ is not a Bengali word. It is a word of Arabic-Persian origin, which is used in Urdu. Under what mentality was this word chosen?”

Trivedi also cited Mamata Banerjee’s old statement, in which she had said that if her government is no longer in power, a particular community can destroy everything in a few seconds. This further strengthens the allegation of appeasement politics.

Referring to the BJP manifesto, he said, “If the party forms the government, one crore employment opportunities will be created in the state in the next five years. Establishment of industries will be promoted. Monthly financial assistance of Rs 3,000 will be given to women.”

A separate women police battalion will be formed for the safety of women. We will take Kolkata and entire West Bengal to a higher level of development. The Central Government took the problem of floods in Eastern India seriously. Rivers were desilted, deepened, and inland water transportation systems were introduced. Today more than 100 national waterways are operational in the eastern region.”

Sudhanshu Trivedi made a beautiful symbolic mention of river Ganga. He said, “Ganga originates from Gangotri in Uttarakhand, meets Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh after Haridwar, then flows through Bihar and West Bengal.

The flow of nationalism and development on the banks of Ganga has reached Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Now no one can stop it from reaching Gangasagar. Those who talk about Bengali identity, why don’t they first name their manifesto in Bengali? Leaders like Yusuf Pathan come from outside, win elections and go away. He cannot speak even a single word of Bengali. This is something to think about.”

He accused TMC and some other parties of having a two-point agenda of opposing Sanatan Dharma and supporting infiltration. Trivedi gave the example of Tamil Nadu where conferences were organized against Sanatana Dharma. He said that TMC’s formula is the same in the entire country.

The MP described women empowerment as a well-established policy of the BJP. He referred to Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ announcement from the Red Fort on August 15, 2014. As a result, the sex ratio and the condition of newborn girls has improved.

He criticized the West Bengal government’s budget, saying only Rs 1,100 crore was allocated for industrial development and Rs 182 crore for science-technology, while Rs 5,713 crore was given for maulvis, muezzins and madrassas.
