Diljit Dosanjh told those waving Khalistani flags in the concert, “Jinne jhande dikhane, dikha chalo”
During his ‘Aura Tour’ held in Calgary, Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has once again caught everyone’s attention with his outspokenness. When some protesters started waving pro-Khalistani flags in the middle of the concert, Diljit stopped his show and directly addressed the elements who were accusing him of being ‘anti-Punjab’.
A viral video on the internet showed that some people were waving Khalistani flags in the audience gallery. Diljit interrupted and said that his job is not to do charity, but whichever international forum he goes to, he raises the issues of Punjab prominently.
Responding to his critics, Diljit said, “My job is not to do charity, but on whatever platform I go, I always talk about Punjab. We often say that the national media does not talk about Punjab. It is for the sake of Punjab that I went on platforms like ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) and put forward the issues of Punjab there. I have also always donated for my soil.”
He further added, “I also went on Jimmy Fallon’s show to bring events like Punjab and ‘Guru Nanak Jahaz’ (Komagata Maru) to the world. If you still have a problem as to whom I am sitting in front of on TV… then Jinne Jhande Dekhane, Dikha Chalo (Keep showing as many flags as you want).”

The controversy has its roots in an episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC 17) aired in October 2025. Diljit participated in this show and took blessings from host Amitabh Bachchan by touching his feet. After this, banned fundamentalist groups like ‘Sikh for Justice’ (SFJ) had given threats to Diljit.
SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu had alleged that Diljit had insulted the victims of the 1984 Sikh riots by touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet. The group claims that in 1984, Amitabh had raised slogans inciting violence, although Amitabh Bachchan has denied these allegations several times. Despite SFJ’s threats to disrupt the concert, Diljit gave a message of peace in Calgary. He made it clear that he will not respond to hatred with hatred.
Diljit said from the stage, “I will always talk about love. For me this earth is one. My Guru says ‘Ek Omkar’. I am born from this soil and will merge in this. From my side there is only love for everyone, whether someone is jealous of me or trolls me. I don’t care what anyone thinks.”
Recently in ‘The Tonight Show’ (Jimmy Fallon), Diljit mentioned the Komagata Maru incident of 1914, in which Canada refused to allow Indians (Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims) entry into its border. Diljit clarified that he goes to these platforms not to promote any film, but to give global recognition to his history and issues.
