India Takes Tough Stand On Fujairah Attack Expresses Displeasure Over Iran’s Action

India has strongly condemned the Iranian attack on the Fujairah Petroleum Industry Zone in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Three Indian citizens were injured in this attack by Iran. The Indian government has called the attack “unacceptable” and called for an immediate end to hostilities and a halt to targeting civilian infrastructure.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on social media platform

He further said that India also supports unimpeded navigation and trade in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law and stands ready to cooperate in all efforts for a peaceful resolution.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also strongly criticized this attack. He said, “Strongly condemn the attacks on UAE in which three Indian citizens have been injured. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable. India stands firmly with the UAE and supports dialogue and diplomacy for peaceful resolution of all issues.”

Emergency services were deployed to control a fire that broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone during missile and drone attacks by Iran on Monday (May 4). According to the UAE Defense Ministry, four cruise missiles were fired in the attack, three of which were shot down by the air defense system, while one fell into the sea.

This field is strategically important for the UAE, as the country exports oil through the Gulf of Oman, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. During the attack, alerts were issued to residents in several cities including Dubai and Abu Dhabi regarding a possible missile threat.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has said that it is coordinating with the local administration and necessary medical aid is being provided to the injured. The Embassy assured that the welfare of the affected Indians is being taken full care of. The UAE Foreign Ministry described the attack as “treacherous” and a serious threat to national security and said the country has every right to respond.

Let us tell you that after the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, some extent of peace was being seen in the area. However, the latest attacks have broken that truce and once again ignited a war in the Gulf region, raising fears of a further worsening of the situation regionally and globally.
