Fire breaks out in power bank in Indigo plane; emergency evacuation of passengers

On Tuesday (May 5), an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Chandigarh experienced an emergency after landing, due to which passengers were immediately evacuated from the plane. According to the information, the plane was parked on the runway when a passenger’s power bank caught fire, due to which an immediate alert was issued. Keeping security in mind, all the passengers were evacuated safely through emergency doors.

This incident happened in IndiGo flight 6E 108. A passenger’s personal electronic device caught fire after the plane landed and parked. As soon as the situation was known, the cabin crew immediately initiated emergency procedures and started evacuating the passengers.

A statement issued by IndiGo said that all passengers were safely transported to the terminal while giving top priority to security. The airline also said that a team was deployed at the airport to assist and look after the passengers. All the passengers present on the plane at the time of the incident are safe and there is no news of anyone being injured.

According to the airline spokesperson, the aircraft will undergo necessary technical checks and will be re-inducted into service only after meeting all safety standards. However, no official statement has been issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in this matter yet.

The cause of fire in the power bank is not yet known, but this incident has once again raised questions about the safety of air travel. The airline and concerned agencies are investigating the matter.
