Gariaband 14 Naxalites killed: Strong attack on 'red terror' in Chhattisgarh; More than 14 Naxalites eliminated in one day

Gariaband 14 Naxalites killed: In Chhattisgarh, security forces are taking vigorous action against 'red terror' i.e. Naxalites. After Bastar district in the state, more than 14 Naxalites have been killed in Gariaband in 24 hours. The encounter between security forces and Naxalites is going on since Sunday. In which the number of Naxalites killed may increase.

According to police officials, an encounter took place late Monday night and Tuesday morning in a forest under Mainpur police station area on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border, in which 12 more Naxalites were killed. Earlier on Monday, two female Naxalites were killed in an encounter. During this time, a CRPF Cobra battalion soldier was also injured. The operation involves a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Chhattisgarh, CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) from Odisha.

Officials said the operation was launched on the night of January 19 based on information about the presence of a large number of Naxalites in the Kularighat Reserve Forest of Chhattisgarh, about five kilometers from the border of Nuapada district of Odisha. He said a huge cache of arms, ammunition and a 'self-loading' rifle were recovered from the encounter site during the operation on Monday. Also a landmine was detected. The number of Naxalites killed may increase.

Inspector General of Police of Raipur area Amresh Mishra said that continuous encounter is going on in the area for the last 24 hours. He said that many top Naxalites are likely to be killed in this encounter.
