14 new medical colleges will be built in UP, good news for these districts

Lucknow. A big initiative is being taken in the field of health and medical education in Uttar Pradesh. The state government has decided to establish 14 new medical colleges, which will further strengthen the medical infrastructure of the state. A budget of Rs 1,023 crore has been proposed for this scheme.

At present there are a total of 81 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh, out of which 45 are run by the state government and 36 by the private sector. Medical college facilities are available in 75 percent of the districts of the state, but there are still 16 such districts where there is no network of medical education. New colleges will be established in these districts under the PPP (Public Private Partnership) model.

There has also been a significant increase in medical education in the state in the last few years. In the year 2017, the total MBBS seats in government and private medical colleges were 4,540, which has now been increased to 12,800. Similarly, the number of PG seats has also increased from 1,221 to 4,995. This expansion will not only increase opportunities for students, but will also improve the quality of health services in the state.

Apart from this, the state government has also made a provision of Rs 315 crore for Cancer Institute, Lucknow and Rs 130 crore for free medical facilities for the treatment of incurable diseases. This initiative is an important step towards relieving patients of the burden of expensive treatment and ensuring access to specialist healthcare services.

This investment in medical education and health sector in UP will not only strengthen education but also improve health services in rural and backward districts. The establishment of 14 new medical colleges will increase opportunities for medical education for the youth of the state and the network of health services will be more extensive.
