of India One of the leading private general insurance companies ICICI ICICI Lombard’s flagship CSR initiative ‘Caring Hands’ has successfully completed 14 years of its journey. Over this long period, the company has contributed significantly to improving the eye health of school boys and girls from underprivileged communities. Launched in 2011, this initiative has become an important initiative in the employee-led healthcare sector in India.

Activity statistics and results

Under the ‘Caring Hands’ initiative, school boys and girls across the country are given free eye check-ups and spectacles to prevent vision impairment. So far, more than 5.5 lakh boys and girls have been screened for their eyes, while glasses have been distributed to more than 50,000 boys and girls. An estimated 3.4 million school children have to study without treatment for visual impairment. As a result of treatment for visual impairment, these children receive only half as much education as children who can see clearly in the classroom. The ‘caring hands’ enabled many students to see the blackboard clearly, bridging the gap in their learning.

  • Organized on the same day: Although this initiative is planned for more than two months, we are proud that all the eye check-up camps are organized on the same day across the country.
