ASI’s complaint created a stir, Minister Agnimitra was contacted!

Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate’s Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Supriya Mukherjee has complained to West Bengal Women and Child Welfare Minister Agnimitra Paul against the officer-in-charge of a police station.

ASI Supriya Mukherjee said that some miscreants were smuggling diesel with the help of the officer-in-charge of Andal police station. The ASI said that when he tried to stop it, the senior police officer harassed him and he was given less important responsibility. On Saturday, the police officer lodged a complaint against the miscreants and the officer-in-charge of Andal police station.

Ever since the BJP came to power in Bengal, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has directed the police administration to be proactive against various anti-social, immoral and illegal activities.

In this environment, ASI Supriya Mukherjee went to Andal in West Burdwan district to stop illegal smuggling of diesel. During the interrogation of the miscreants, the name of the officer-in-charge of Andal police station came to light. The miscreants were released on the orders of the senior officer. The name of a person named Pappu also came up.

ASI Mukherjee alleged that I was stopping illegal oil smuggling. Then the miscreants said that they had a ‘setting’ with the police station. Later, when the officer-in-charge of Andal police station saw the video, he harassed me. I was put on the help desk.

Subsequently, he reported the matter to Agnimitra Paul and the Commissioner of Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate. He formally lodged the complaint on Saturday.

It is noteworthy that CM Suvendu Adhikari on Friday had announced the suspension of three Indian Police Service officers, including a former commissioner of Kolkata Police, in the case of rape and murder of a female junior doctor of the state-run RGKar Medical College.

Those who have been suspended include the then Commissioner of Kolkata Police Vineet Kumar Goyal, the then Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) Abhishek Gupta and the then Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) Indira Mukherjee.

Announcing their suspension on Friday, the CM said that a departmental inquiry will be initiated against these three. Additionally, he also said that the role of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in this matter will be reviewed.
