Films are made not only for social reform but also for entertainment: Sonakshi Sinha!
Actress Sonakshi Sinha’s upcoming film ‘System’ is ready for release. Meanwhile, Sonakshi, who was busy in promotions, talked about the purpose of cinema. Giving his clear opinion, he said that the sole purpose of films is not to bring change in the society. Films are made not only for improving society but also for entertainment.
The actress believes that films are mainly made for entertainment and it is not the job of film makers to give moral education.
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Sonakshi said, “I do not agree that films should be considered only a medium to bring the society on the right path. Films are also made for entertainment. We should get the education of right and wrong from our parents and schools. This is not the job of actors or film makers.”
Sonakshi told, “Today we will make the story of a lawyer, tomorrow we can make the story of a serial killer. This does not mean that people should go and start killing others. Moral values and principles are taught at home. It is not our job to teach this.”
The actress clarified that films have age ratings for audiences aged 12, 16 or 18. The audience itself is able to understand the difference between right and wrong.
Sonakshi said, “Many times there is a big debate about films that it is wrong, it should not be shown. Sorry, but a film is a story. The audience should watch the film as entertainment. After all, it is just a story.”
He also said that art is the mirror of society. Films are often based on real life events or true stories. If a film forces the audience to think like ‘System’ then it is a good thing, but it does not mean that every film should take the responsibility of improving the society.
Sonakshi Sinha’s film ‘System’ is going to be released on Prime Video on May 22. The film is produced by Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja and Smita Baliga. Actress Jyotika will also be seen along with Sonakshi in Ashwiny Iyer’s film.
