Maharashtra Raigarh accident: Vehicle fell into ditch, 8 died, CM expressed grief!

At least eight people were killed when a tourist vehicle traveling from Konkan region to Satara met with an accident in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. Officials gave this information on Monday. At present the rescue operation is going on.

According to officials, the vehicle lost control and fell into a valley about 1,000 feet deep in the hilly area of ​​Raigarh district. Rescue teams have so far recovered three bodies, which have been sent for post-mortem, while efforts to search and rescue the others are underway. So far eight people have died in this accident.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over the accident. He wrote on social media platform

He further wrote, “These eight friends were going on a trip. During this, their vehicle fell into a 1,500 feet deep valley, as a result of which the bodies were scattered at different places. The district administration has immediately started relief and rescue operations and formed 5 teams of 7 personnel each.

Efforts to recover the bodies are going on war footing and so far 3 bodies have been recovered. The remaining bodies will also be taken out soon. Help is also being taken from NDRF. Other volunteer rescue teams are also helping. Of the dead, 1 is from Ratnagiri district, while the remaining 7 are from Satara district. Raigarh and Satara police forces are also working in coordination.”

Officials said teams of police, local administration and disaster relief units have been deployed at the accident site. Rescue workers are trying to reach the ditch with the help of ropes and special equipment.

Officials said that the rescue operation is facing difficulties due to the inaccessible terrain and extreme depth of the valley. The deceased have not yet been officially identified.

At the same time, news of another horrific road accident has been received from Dhule on Monday morning, in which six people died and 26 others were injured in a collision between multiple vehicles on the Mumbai-Agra highway. All the injured were admitted to the district hospital for treatment and the police have started investigating the accident.
