Aap Vadodara President Ashok Ojha Arrested For Making Fake Ib Call Party’s Allegations Take A Turn

The case of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers in Gujarat receiving threatening phone calls allegedly in the name of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officers has now taken an unexpected turn. The issue which was raised loudly by the Aam Aadmi Party supremo as an example of alleged misuse of government and agencies, has now arrested AAP’s Vadodara City President Ashok Ojha as an accused. Police investigation has revealed that the alleged “IB calls” may not be related to any government agency but to internal disputes and factionalism in the party.

What is the whole matter?

The controversy started when several AAP leaders and workers in Gujarat claimed that they were receiving phone calls in which the caller was posing as an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer. Party leaders portrayed it as an attempt to exercise political surveillance and intimidate opposition workers.

The matter gained further momentum when former Delhi MLA and AAP leader Durgesh Pathak publicly alleged that calls were being made to party workers in Gujarat from a particular mobile number and the caller was posing as an IB officer.

After this, Arvind Kejriwal also raised this issue on social media. He claimed that a party worker had received such a call and he himself called the number. According to Kejriwal, when he asked whether the caller was from the IB, the reply was “yes”. However, when he identified himself as Arvind Kejriwal, the call was reportedly immediately disconnected.

After this, Kejriwal raised the question under which law the Intelligence Bureau can investigate citizens moving from one state to another for political activities. Other party leaders also made similar allegations and termed the matter as an issue of political persecution.

Revealed in police investigation

Meanwhile, AAP worker Keshav Chauhan of Anand district also lodged a complaint of receiving a similar phone call. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Anand Cyber Crime Police Station and investigation began on the basis of call records, mobile data and technical evidence.

The first major clue was found during the investigation when the disputed mobile number was found to be linked to Anand resident Nitin Dobaria. During interrogation, Dobaria allegedly admitted that he had made these calls on the instructions of Vadodara AAP president Ashok Ojha and had several times described himself as an Intelligence Bureau officer.

After this revelation, the police expanded the scope of investigation and interrogated Ashok Ojha. According to the facts revealed in the investigation, no connection of this entire incident was found with any government agency or political rival. Instead, the matter is being said to be related to the ongoing factionalism and organizational power struggle within the party.

Who is Ashok Ojha?

Ashok Ojha has been a well-known face of the Aam Aadmi Party in Gujarat. For the past several years, he has been a part of the party’s organizational structure and played an active role in AAP’s expansion campaign in the state. Ojha was often seen with the top leadership when the party was trying to strengthen its political hold in Gujarat.

In photographs from various programs and political events, Ojha has been seen with several prominent faces including AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, senior leader Manish Sisodia, Gujarat unit leaders Isudan Gadhvi, Gopal Italia and Manoj Sorathiya. His visits to Delhi to coordinate party activities have also been in the news.

According to sources, Ojha’s reach is not limited to formal events only, rather he is counted among the influential leaders within the organization. He is also said to have close relations with former Gujarat in-charge Gopal Rai.

fear of internal politics

According to reports, there was growing discontent in the Aam Aadmi Party’s Gujarat unit over senior Delhi leader Durgesh Pathak being given a more active role in the state. Investigative agencies believe that due to the increasing interference of the central leadership, some leaders in the local organization feared that their influence would decrease.

The investigation also indicated that the alleged fake IB call campaign was aimed at putting pressure on some leaders and influencing the balance of power within the organization.

This entire incident has changed the direction of the political dispute. The case, which the AAP leadership had described as an example of alleged pressure and surveillance by government agencies, has now led to the arrest of the party’s own city president and his aide. The findings of the police investigation have shifted the controversy away from government agencies and toward political conflict and organizational tug-of-war within the party.
