No agreement with America without securing Iranian rights: Ghalibaf!

Iran’s parliamentary speaker and top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says Tehran will not accept any deal ending its feud with the US unless it is ensured that the rights of the Iranian people are protected.

According to media reports, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf made this statement regarding the Iran-US agreement during a virtual parliamentary session held on Sunday morning. Ghalibaf was sworn in as the re-elected speaker with the Presidium of the Iranian Parliament. The political assemblies of some countries have a council of executive officers who collectively conduct their business along with or in place of the president.

He then said, “There is no trust in the words and promises of the enemy. Our only criterion is to achieve concrete results before fulfilling our commitments in return.”

Yesterday, US President Donald Trump had said that talks between America and Iran are in their final stages. Along with this, he also claimed that America will extract the enriched uranium buried under the debris in Iran and bring it back from there, although Iran rejected all these claims.

The US President has also claimed that Iran has agreed that it will neither make nor acquire nuclear weapons.

According to Xinhua news agency, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghei said in a telephone interview with state TV channel IRIB on the agreement with the US that the exchange of messages between the two sides continues. This statement has come at a time when US President Donald Trump made public his conditions for a possible agreement with Iran, saying that he will take a decision on it soon.

Ismail Baghees reiterated that Iran’s current focus in the talks is on ending the war. “At this stage we are not discussing the details of Iran’s uranium enrichment or the issues related to enriched uranium,” he said.

Talking about the possible reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Ismail Baghees said that the future management of the strait belongs only to Iran and Oman. Earlier in a social media post, US President Donald Trump stated his demands, saying, “Iran will have to agree that they will never have any nuclear weapon or bomb.”
