Annamalai resigns from BJP, will meet Amit Shah today!
Former Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai on Tuesday appointed BJP National President Nitin Naveen During the meeting he submitted his resignation from the party. After this, he is likely to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah at 4 pm.
Removal and replacement of Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagendran After the appointment of Annamalai, he was seen less active in public for quite some time. Meanwhile, there was speculation that he wanted to leave BJP and did not see his future in the party.
According to sources, BJP President Nitin Naveen and Organization General Secretary B. l. Satisfaction In an important meeting with the party, Annamalai expressed his desire to separate from the party amicably. He told the party leadership that he now “wants to chart his own path.”
However, the BJP leadership is still trying to convince him. According to sources, consideration is also being given to giving national level responsibility in the party to former IPS officer Annamalai. For now, he has been asked to stay in Delhi till further instructions.
If Annamalai leaves BJP, it will be considered a big change in Tamil Nadu politics. Especially after the rapid rise of actor-turned-politician Vijay Thalapathy, the political scenario of the state has changed a lot.
Sources close to Annamalai say that he believes that Vijay’s emergence as a political force has brought about a big change in the politics of Tamil Nadu.
A source said, “Today there is no big leader to compete with Vijay. The era of Dravidian politics is over. Only language-based politics will not work anymore. The politics of the state has completely changed.
Amid talks of Annamalai’s possible resignation, his supporters have put up posters in Madurai appealing to him to take the “next avatar” and “save Tamil Nadu”.
These discussions intensified since BJP announced in 2025 before the 2026 assembly elections. “All India Anna Dravid Munnetra Kadgam” As a strategy to revive the alliance with NDA, Annamalai was removed and Nainar Nagendran was made the state president.
Annamalai’s aggressive stance and late leaders MJ. Ramachandran And J. Jayalalitha The comments made regarding this had created tension in the relations between BJP and AIADMK, due to which both the parties had to suffer electoral losses.
Annamalai, who entered politics in 2020 and became the youngest president of Tamil Nadu BJP, is reportedly considering launching a mass movement. However, it is not clear whether it will take the form of any political party in future or not.
Annamalai has neither confirmed nor denied any possibility in this regard. He has said that he will clarify his position in the next two days.
The huge posters put up by his supporters in Coimbatore ahead of his birthday have also given further fuel to these speculations.
Questions about his political future intensified after the 2026 assembly elections, especially when he did not get the opportunity to contest from Coimbatore, even though it was believed that he was keen to contest from the same seat.
