Are you drinking enough water in the scorching heat? Know your hydration level from urine color chart!

The scorching heat continues in many parts of the country. In such a situation, the Health Ministry of the Government of India has given special advice to the people to take care of the amount of water in their body. The Ministry has released the urine color chart and said that it can be easily found out how hydrated you are.

Dehydration becomes a big problem during the summer season, especially among the youth. The ministry said that while going out in the sun, cover your head and face, wear glasses and keep drinking water frequently. The best way is to drink water before you feel thirsty. Along with the urine color chart, the ministry also told how to identify it?

1 to 2: Light yellow or almost clear urine, without odor. This shows that you are well hydrated. Keep drinking water like this.

3 to 4: Slightly dark yellow urine. This means you are mildly dehydrated. Drink a glass of water immediately.

5 to 6: Medium to dark yellow urine. This is a sign of dehydration. One should drink 2-3 glasses of water immediately.

7 to 8: Very dark yellow or brown urine, with a strong odor. This shows extreme dehydration. For this, drink plenty of water immediately and if necessary, contact a doctor.

Health experts say that some foods like beetroot, vitamin supplements or some medicines can also change the color of urine. So use this chart as a guide only. If the color of urine remains dark continuously or you feel any other health problem, consult a doctor immediately.

The Ministry has appealed to drink plenty of water, coconut water, buttermilk, lemon water and fruit juices during the summer season. Wear light colored loose clothes while going out. Keep a special eye on children and the elderly as they can easily become vulnerable to dehydration.
