Railway projects worth one lakh crore will be implemented in Bengal: Official!
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said that after the completion of these projects, every district of the state will be connected to a better rail network. He said that during the previous government, many railway projects could not be completed on time due to the conflict between the state and the Centre, but now the situation has changed and work on the projects will be done at a faster pace.
The Chief Minister said that the Railway Board and the Railway Ministry had sent letters to the previous government several times regarding the pending projects, but no response was received. Despite this, Rs 4,380 crore was allocated for metro and various rail projects in West Bengal in the last five years. At the same time, a provision of Rs 14,205 crore has been made for the financial year 2026-27. He said that now work will be done on railway projects worth a total of Rs 1 lakh crore in the state.
He said that in the coming time, 102 Amrit Bharat Railway stations and 538 flyovers and underpasses will be built in the state. Wherever land is required, the state government will make it available.
The Chief Minister said that at present some areas of West Bengal are not adequately connected with the rail network, but now all areas of the state including Karimpur, Tehatta, Jalangi, Gopiballabhpur, Nayagram and Hili will be connected to the railway map. Rail connectivity will also be strengthened in North Bengal, South Bengal and Jangalmahal region, which will provide huge benefits to the common people.
Earlier on Saturday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that bullet train service will also be started in West Bengal. He told that this bullet train will go from New Delhi to Siliguri in North Bengal via Lucknow, Varanasi and Patna and the entire journey can be covered in just six hours.
The Railway Minister also announced that 60 new train services will be started in West Bengal in the next five years, which will further strengthen the state’s rail connectivity and transportation system.
