PM Modi congratulates on winning Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian men’s and women’s teams for their brilliant performance in the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup played in Japan and wished the players all the best for their bright future.

The Indian Under-18 hockey men’s team won the title of ‘Under-18 Asia Cup 2026’ by defeating Japan in the final match played on Saturday. The Indian team won the gold medal by defeating Japan 4-1.

Congratulating the hockey team, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter, “Great success for our young hockey players. Congratulations to the Indian Men’s Under-18 Hockey Team on winning the Men’s Under-18 Asia Cup 2026.”

The team displayed tremendous skill and teamwork throughout the tournament, which resulted in a memorable victory in the final. This victory also shows the growing popularity of hockey among our youth. My best wishes to the team for their future endeavours.”

The Indian women’s under-18 hockey team won 3-0 over Korea in the bronze medal match at the Asia Cup 2026.

Congratulating the women’s hockey team, the PM wrote on Instagram, “Congratulations to the Indian women’s Under-18 hockey team on winning the bronze medal in the Under-18 Asia Cup 2026. The team showed tremendous courage throughout the tournament. This success shows the growing strength of women’s hockey in India and the tremendous ability of our players. Best wishes to the team for their upcoming endeavours.”

Hockey India has announced cash prizes for the players and support staff of the women’s and men’s teams on its official X account.

For the Under-18 men’s team, Hockey India wrote on Twitter, “To celebrate India’s gold medal win, Hockey India has announced a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh for each player and Rs 1.5 lakh for each support staff.”

Hockey India has announced a prize of Rs 1 lakh each for all the players of the bronze medal winning Under-18 women’s hockey team and Rs 50 thousand each for the support staff.
