Second ODI: Gill-Ishan’s centuries, Afghanistan set 403 targets!

The second match of the ODI series is being played between India and Afghanistan at Ekana Cricket Stadium. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the Indian team scored 402 runs on the basis of century innings by captain Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan.

The start of the Indian team was not good. India got its first blow in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal (4) on the score of 9 on the last ball of the second over. After this, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill made a partnership of 87 runs for the second wicket. Rohit Sharma missed playing a big innings and was out after scoring 48 runs in 39 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 6 fours.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, who came to bat at number four, batted brilliantly and made a partnership of 224 runs for the third wicket. This is the biggest partnership by the Indian team for any wicket against Afghanistan. Both batsmen scored centuries.

Ishan Kishan played an inning of 125 runs in 79 balls with the help of 7 sixes and 14 fours. This was the second century of Ishaan’s ODI career. Shubman Gill was out after scoring 154 runs in 110 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 22 fours. This was the 9th century of Gill’s ODI career.

After the dismissal of these two, the Indian innings, which was once hovering around 450, could barely reach 402. Indian team’s lower batting order proved to be a complete flop. Shreyas Iyer scored 26 runs and Washington Sundar scored 19 runs. KL Rahul could not open account. The Indian team was all out in 49.5 overs.
