144th day of ‘Gangsters War’: Punjab Police raids 519 places, 249 arrested

Punjab News: On the 144th day of the ongoing decisive campaign ‘Gangsters Te War’ in the state, Punjab Police raided 519 identified and mapped hideouts of gangsters’ associates across the state.

It is noteworthy that ‘Gangsters Te War’ is a decisive fight to make Punjab a gangster-free state, which was started by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all the districts in coordination with Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) ​​Punjab are carrying out special operations across the state.

7 POs arrested in other actions including fugitive

On the 144th day, police teams arrested 249 persons including six weapons, taking the total number of arrests since the start of the operation to 36,630.

Apart from this, precautionary action was taken against 101 persons, while 9 persons were released after interrogation. During the operation, police teams also arrested 7 fugitive criminals (POs).

During this, the police teams continued their campaign against drugs ‘War on Drugs’ for the 469th day and arrested 109 drug smugglers and recovered 356 grams of heroin, 11 kilograms of hashish, 713 intoxicating pills and drug money worth Rs 19,470 from their possession. With this, the total number of drug smugglers arrested in just 469 days has increased to 68,115. Under the de-addiction campaign, Punjab Police has motivated 10 people to get rid of drug addiction and undergo rehabilitation treatment.
