Abhishek did not come to give voice sample, CID said delay in investigation!
As per the court’s instructions, Abhishek Banerjee had to appear in the court by 12 noon on Wednesday and give voice samples in the presence of the judicial magistrate and forensic experts.
The team of CID officers had reached the court by 12 noon. Although the authorities waited for Abhishek Banerjee, he did not reach the court to give the voice sample.
After this, government lawyer Biwas Chattopadhyay told the court that the TMC general secretary has not appeared in the court for the second time to give the voice sample. It is clear that he is trying to delay and obstruct the investigation process.
Later the government lawyer also filed a written statement in the court. It was alleged that Abhishek Banerjee was deliberately delaying the investigation of the hate speech case. He is accused of making statements inciting violence and threatening Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
In the written statement, the government lawyer also said that Abhishek Banerjee’s repeated non-appearance is a deliberate violation of the court order. Therefore, now the time has come to take strict legal action against them.
In fact, on Tuesday, a single bench of Justice Saugata Bhattacharya of Calcutta High Court had raised the question that when Abhishek Banerjee has got interim relief till July 31 from any kind of police action including arrest, then why is he avoiding cooperating in the investigation?
Abhishek Banerjee’s lawyer had on Tuesday sought an urgent hearing in the court of Justice Saugata Bhattacharya to seek relief from the order to appear in the Bidhannagar court to give the voice sample. He had challenged the order of the district court, in which instructions were given to give the voice sample.
However, Justice Bhattacharya rejected the demand for urgent hearing. He said that Abhishek Banerjee should cooperate with the investigating agencies and give the voice sample without any delay.
