12 new townships in Bihar, engineering university to be built in Muzaffarpur!
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 982 development schemes worth Rs 1,047.09 crore during the program of the Urban Development and Housing Department in Muzaffarpur on Sunday. These include schemes related to Mukhyamantri Samagra Shahri Vikas Yojana, Storm Water Drainage Project and Muzaffarpur Smart City Project.
He also inaugurated the lake front in Sikandarpur developed at a cost of Rs 213.25 crore. While inspecting the lake front, the Chief Minister appreciated its attractive fountains, modern lighting system and artefacts. He directed the officials to ensure adequate lighting and better maintenance of the complex, so that it can develop as the new identity of the city.
Addressing the gathering organized at MIT Muzaffarpur campus, the Chief Minister said that under the programme, 673 schemes have been inaugurated and the foundation stone of 309 schemes has been laid. He said that these projects will lead to comprehensive improvement in urban infrastructure, drainage system and civic amenities.
The state government is giving top priority to the development of modern infrastructure and Bihar is rapidly moving towards new heights of development. The Chief Minister announced that 12 new townships would be developed in the state, including Tirhut Township in Muzaffarpur.
He said that the construction work of Muzaffarpur Airport will start soon. Also, with the construction of Patna-Muzaffarpur Rapid Rail Corridor, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to about 40 minutes. Construction of Haldia-Raxaul Highway will also give new impetus to trade and traffic.
Making a big announcement in the field of higher education, he said that Architecture and Civil Engineering University will be established in the MIT campus located in Muzaffarpur. According to him, this institute will become a major center of technical education, research and innovation and will provide new opportunities for quality education to the youth.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is ensuring that no eligible poor is deprived of government schemes. He said that the process of linking about one crore new families with ration cards will be started. Farmers have been instructed to provide 12 hours of uninterrupted electricity for irrigation from 6 am to 6 pm.
He said that the government is working on a policy of zero tolerance towards corruption and cyber crime. So far, around five lakh applications have been processed through cooperation camps. Many public representatives and officials including Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Dr. Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra were present in the program.
