Iltija Mufti targeted the Centre, raised the issue of trust!
Iltija Mufti posted on the social media platform ‘X’ and said that she had never seen such an ‘intimidated administration’ in Jammu and Kashmir before. He said that attempts to change and erase history are not only wrong, but it also increases the distance between the people and the administration. Kashmiri society has been preserving its history and political consciousness for generations.
Referring to Kashmir’s 1931 martyrs, he said, “Kashmiri people look up to them as their role models and heroes. The 22 martyrs who lost their lives in 1931 played an important role in strengthening political awareness and sense of honour.”
In his statement, he also mentioned ideological differences and said that different communities and regions look at their historical personalities from a different perspective. Referring to Savarkar and Nathuram Godse, he targeted the ideology of the Center and said that there are different viewpoints in the society regarding history and heroes.
Iltija Mufti alleged that placing people under house arrest, monitoring them and preventing them from public activities raises questions on the claims of restoring normalcy. He said that such steps create distance between people instead of increasing trust.
Referring to ‘Dil ki Doori’ and ‘Dilli ki Doori’, he said that this is a matter related to the policies and administrative methods of the Central Government. He claimed that it is not possible to connect people through politics of fear and pressure. Mufti expressed respect for the martyrs of 1931 and said that the people of Kashmir are sensitive about their history and identity.
