15 Dead as Bus Falls into Gorge in Udhampur, Rescue Ops Continue

A passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday morning, killing 15 people and injuring several others.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m. when the bus, travelling from Ramnagar to Udhampur, lost control while negotiating a blind curve. The vehicle overturned and rolled down the hillside, leaving passengers trapped inside.

Army personnel, police teams, and local residents launched a massive rescue operation. They evacuated the injured and shifted them to nearby hospitals. Many victims remain in critical condition. Emergency services continue to clear the wreckage and assist survivors.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh contacted district officials and assured full assistance. He confirmed arrangements to airlift the seriously injured and said he remains in constant touch with the local administration as rescue efforts progress.

Authorities began investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest the driver lost control while navigating the curve.
