15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi again created history, broke the world record by hitting fours and sixes.

New Delhi: The IPL 2026 season will be remembered for many brilliant performances, but the player who grabbed the most headlines was 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. With his explosive batting, he performed brilliantly throughout the tournament and made many big records in his name. Even though his team Rajasthan Royals could not progress in the title race, Vaibhav created history with his performance which will be remembered for a long time.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a brilliant inning of 96 runs in the IPL 2026 Qualifier-2 match played against Gujarat Titans. He missed coming very close to a century, but this innings gave him another world record. He hit 8 fours and 7 sixes during his innings and set a new record in terms of hitting boundaries in the entire season.

Most boundaries in a T20 tournament

Vaibhav Suryavanshi hit a total of 135 boundaries in IPL 2026. This included 63 fours and 72 sixes. With this, he made the world record of scoring most boundaries in a single tournament or series of T20 cricket. Earlier this record was in the name of former England captain Jos Buttler. Butler had hit 128 boundaries while playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. That season he hit 83 fours and 45 sixes. Now Vaibhav has left them behind and set a new record. The most important thing was that Vaibhav hit more sixes than fours.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was not limited to just hitting boundaries. He scored 776 runs in 16 matches in the entire season and registered his place in the list of players scoring the most runs in a single season of IPL. With this achievement, he has become the third Indian and fifth overall batsman to score the most runs in a season in IPL history.

Name included in the list of veterans

Now Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s name has also been included in the list of players who scored the most runs in a single season of IPL. Big names like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, David Warner and Jos Buttler are already present in this list. Virat Kohli holds the record of scoring the highest number of 963 runs in a single season of IPL. Apart from him, no batsman has been able to reach the figure of 900 runs till now. Shubman Gill came closest to this record by scoring 890 runs in 2023.
