150 new OYOs will open in Ayodhya, the company plans to add 500 hotels at major pilgrimage sites in India.

Ayodhya After the consecration of Ramlala in Avadhanagar, lakhs of devotees are coming to have darshan. Last year, Pran Pratishtha was started in Ram temple. Since then, the hotel business is continuously flourishing in Ayodhya. Travel technology firm Oyo on Wednesday said it plans to add 500 hotels in religious cities like Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Puri, Haridwar, Mathura, Vrindavan, Amritsar, Ujjain, Ajmer, Nashik and Tirupati this year.

The company has made this announcement at a time when religious tourism is booming in the country. The government has also taken several steps towards improving infrastructure at tourist places and developing tourist attractions.

Oyo said in a statement that it will add more than 150 hotels in Ayodhya, 100 in Varanasi and 50 each in Prayagraj, Haridwar and Puri this year. Ayodhya topped the list of most searched religious destinations online for the New Year holidays and has emerged as a major spiritual tourism destination. The company said, “This step has been taken in view of the increasing demand for quality housing after the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya.”

Varun Jain, Chief Operating Officer, OYO India, said, “Our focus is to introduce hotels strategically located in key religious centers to meet the growing demand for high-quality rooms among devotees and visitors. Religious tourism activities are expected to generate revenue of $59 billion by the year 2028. This is expected to create 14 crore temporary and permanent jobs by the year 2030.

Online hotel platform OYO had opened 65 home stays and hotels before the inauguration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The company had given this information on Wednesday. The company had said that the hotels that were opened in the city included 51 Oyo Home Stays and 14 hotels. Oyo's business increased due to the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
