155 nominations for Himachal Municipal Corporation elections on the first day, BJP fields candidates, churning in Congress regarding ticket.
As soon as the election process started in 51 municipal bodies of Himachal Pradesh, 155 claimants have filed nominations on the first day. Actually, maximum applications have come from Mandi district, while in some districts the number has been less. BJP has tried to take the lead by announcing its candidates, while Congress is still busy in making strategies. In fact, the nomination figures in different districts of the state are also showing the election trends. 34 candidates have filed nominations in Mandi, 23 in Kullu, 22 in Kangra and 14 in Shimla.
At the same time, there has not been a single nomination in Hamirpur which remains a topic of discussion. Let us tell you that now the remaining days of nomination are left on 30th April and 2nd May, in which more candidates can contest.
BJP candidate list
Actually, BJP has declared its candidates in important municipal corporation areas like Dharamshala, Mandi and Palampur in this election. In Dharamshala, the party has given opportunity to many new faces from different wards, this is giving a clear indication that this time BJP wants to contest the elections with a new team at the local level. At the same time, in Palampur and Mandi, the party has tried to create a balance, tickets have been given to both experienced and new faces at these places. However, tickets have not been decided yet in Solan Municipal Corporation, which makes it clear that the party wants to take a careful decision on some seats.
Churning over ticket in Congress
On the other hand, Congress has not yet declared the names of all its candidates. Let us tell you that an important meeting of the election committee of the party was held in Kangra in which the names of many wards were decided but the official announcement is yet to be made. Meanwhile, the nomination process is going on. Both the major parties still have limited time left to decide their candidates. A total of 64 councilors will be elected in the four municipal corporations of the state, out of which the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be elected.
