167 medicines sold across the country were found to be of poor quality, the government issued a big alert regarding the medicines.
News India Live, Digital Desk: In today’s fast-paced life, if we have a minor illness, we immediately go to the medical store and get the medicine. But have you ever wondered whether the pill you are taking is really effective or not? Recently, the Health Ministry and the Drugs Regulator of India (CDSCO) have released a report that has surprised everyone. What is the whole matter? Actually, the central government organization CDSCO had collected samples of medicines from different states across the country so that their purity could be checked. Surprisingly, in this test, 167 medicines were found ‘Not of Standard Quality’ (NSQ). In simple language, these medicines did not meet the quality standards. This means that either the ingredients used in them are not in the right quantity, or they will not have the desired effect on the body. Which medicines have failed? According to the government report, this list includes many medicines which are frequently used in our homes. These include calcium tablets, antibiotics, painkillers and tablets used in the treatment of diseases like high blood pressure. The government has clearly stated that these medicines have failed to meet the prescribed standards, which may increase the problem instead of improving the health of the patient. What does quality failure mean? When a medicine fails in a test, it does not always mean that it is ‘poisonous’. This often means that the medicine does not have the ‘potency’ that the doctor has recommended. For example, if you need 500mg and the medicine only works as well as 200mg, your fever or infection will not be cured. Also, taking such medicines for a long time can have adverse effects on the kidneys and liver. What should you do now? Check the website: The Health Ministry has put the batch numbers and names of these 167 medicines on its website. You can also check whether the old stock kept in your house is from this bad batch. Take medicines only from trusted medical stores: Always ask for a confirmed bill and buy from reputed shops only. Do not become a doctor yourself: If any medicine is not working, then immediately meet your doctor and tell him about the quality of the medicines. The government is now preparing to take strict action against these companies. Such compromise with health is really a matter of concern, so be alert and aware.
