167KM long expressway being built in Bihar, good news for these districts
Patna. Work is going on at a fast pace on another big project to strengthen road connectivity in Bihar. The construction of Patna-Bettiah Expressway is being considered an important step towards making travel between the northern and central parts of the state easier and faster than ever before.
Greenfield Expressway will change the picture
This expressway is about 167 km long greenfield corridor, which is being developed under the Bharatmala project. The objective of this project is to directly connect the capital Patna to Bettiah, which is expected to reduce the travel time significantly. After the completion of the construction, the distance from Patna to Bettiah can be covered in about three hours, which currently takes several hours.
Which districts get the biggest benefit?
Districts like Vaishali, Saran, East Champaran and West Champaran will get the biggest benefit of this expressway. All these areas will be directly connected to the capital Patna through better and faster road network. This will not only provide convenience to the common passengers, but is also likely to give new impetus to trade, agriculture and small industries.
Current status of construction
The work on the first section of the project is progressing rapidly. It was recently inspected by the Chief Minister, where officials were instructed to speed up the work. The first phase is targeted to be completed by the year 2027.
Land Acquisition and Preparation
Land acquisition work has been done on a large scale for this project. In Saran district alone, about 99 hectares of land has been taken from 22 revenue villages. This includes more than 1200 land owners, who are being paid under the compensation process.
