The provincial final was held on Nov. 29, when Thepraksa, also known as Meily, took the title.
In a post after her victory, she shared that her mother is originally from Quang Tri Province in central Vietnam and moved to Thailand at age 16.
“I’m proud to introduce myself as a person of mixed Vietnamese heritage,” she wrote. “Some people ask: ‘You’re not 100% Vietnamese, you weren’t born in Vietnam, so why do you say that?’ I want to make clear that I’m happy and proud to have Vietnamese roots.”
“Whenever I tell people I’m part Vietnamese they often respond, ‘Oh, from Vietnam? That country has so many beautiful people and lovely skin,’ and hearing that always warms my heart and makes me even prouder of my Vietnamese blood,” she continued.
Thepraksa, 18, is studying Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.
Miss Grand Thailand 2026 is expected to take place early next year, with 77 contestants from provinces across the country competing for the national crown.
