19 year old Sam Konstas created history, made a unique record on his test debut against India
India vs Australia 4th Test: Australia's young opening batsman Sam Konstas made a special record with his debut in the fourth Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India on Thursday (26 December) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Konstas has been included in this match in place of Nathan McSweeney, who made his debut in this series itself but after a disappointing performance in three Tests, he did not get a place in the team for the last two Tests.
Konstas became the fourth youngest player to make his Test debut for Australia, making his Test debut at the age of 19 years and 85 days. Konstas has broken the record of Clem Hill, who made his debut against England at Lord's in 1896 at the age of 19 years and 96 days.
Apart from this, he has become the youngest batsman to open in the Test history of Australia.
Kontas hit a brilliant six on the second ball of the seventh over of the innings bowled by fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. This has happened after 4483 balls when a batsman has hit a six against Bumrah in a Test match.
It is noteworthy that Australia captain Pat Cummins has decided to bat first after winning the toss in this match against India. The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1.
Apart from Konstas, Scott Boland has been included in the team for Australia in this match. He has returned in place of Josh Hazlewood, who was out of the series due to injury. The Indian team has come with two spinners. Washington Sundar has come into the team and Shubman Gill has gone out.
