5 players with a base price of Rs 2 crore who may not be bought by anyone in the IPL 2026 auction, one has captained Dhoni
West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder was once the choice of many teams in the IPL. He was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 8.75 crore in the 2022 auction and by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 5.75 crore in the 2023 auction. Hold has played 46 IPL matches, in which he has taken 53 wickets and scored 259 runs.
However, since 2023, no team has bought him in IPL. In the last two seasons in which he played, his economy rate was more than 9. Due to which the teams did not show any interest in him. Even in this auction, it seems difficult for any team to go after him.
Josh Inglis (Australia)
Australian wicketkeeper batsman Josh Inglis was a part of Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 and scored 278 runs in 11 matches at an average of 30.88 and strike rate of 162.57. But the franchise released him before the auction.
According to reports, Inglis is going to get married next year, so he will be available only for four matches of IPL. In such a situation, hardly any team will bid on him.
Steve Smith (Australia)
Australia’s legendary batsman Steve Smith has played more than 100 matches in the IPL, but since 2021, no team has bought him in this T-20 league. He has scored 2485 runs in 103 IPL matches at an average of 34.51 and strike rate of 128.09. The strike rate of his T20 career is less than 130.
At present, a strike rate of 150 or more is considered necessary in T-20, hence it seems difficult for any team to bet on 36-year-old Smith.
Let us tell you that at one time Mahendra Singh Dhoni also played IPL under the captaincy of Smith.
Tom Banton (England)
There was a time when Tom Banton’s name was much talked about in T-20 cricket and he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders team for Rs 1 crore in the IPL 2020 auction. Banton got to play only two matches that season, in which he scored 18 runs with his bat. Since then Banton has not been bought by any team in the IPL.
Even in the current IPL T-20, his performance has not been very special and he has not been able to take advantage of the opportunities he got in the England team. He finds it difficult to find a buyer in the upcoming auction.
Matt Henry (New Zealand)
New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry made his IPL debut in 2017 and has played only 6 matches so far. In his first season, he played 2 matches for Punjab Kings and in 2024, playing for Lucknow Super Giants, he took just 1 wicket in 4 matches.
In his more than a decade long T20 International career, Henry has played only 31 matches for New Zealand so far. Apart from this, the biggest problem is that he keeps getting injured a lot. In such a situation, it seems a bit difficult to sell them in the auction.
