The incident took place at Kirti Chemical Industry, located near Karekatte village of Basralu, when the work of dismantling the machinery was going on in the plant.

Farmers’ allegation

According to officials, this plant was earlier closed due to protests by farmers. Farmers had alleged that their crops had been damaged due to chemical leakage from the plant. After this, the work of removing and repairing the machines present in the plant was started. Meanwhile, suddenly there was an explosion in the chemical tank, due to which the workers working there got injured.

Both the laborers who lost their lives in the accident were residents of Bihar. The deceased have been identified as Akash and Kallu. At the same time, three other laborers became seriously ill and were immediately admitted to the hospital. A laborer named Qasim is also included among the injured. According to the workers, seven to eight people were present inside the plant at the time of the accident and all were doing cutting and fitting work.

Contractor Guddu Khan missing

After the incident, Guddu Khan, the contractor who got the work done at the plant, has gone missing. The police is searching for him and the investigation into the case has been intensified. An FIR has been registered in this regard at Basralu police station. Police are trying to find out whether the accident happened due to negligence or safety standards were ignored.

The workers said that they had come to work here only about a month ago and they had no idea about what chemicals were made in the plant. The sudden explosion created chaos in the entire area. At present, the police and administration are thoroughly investigating the matter and it is being said that strict action will be taken against the culprits.
