2 Horror Movie Sequels Planned for Surprise 2026 Hit
One of 2026’s early horror hits could have two sequels in the works, according to the film’s director.
What horror movie is planned to get two sequels?
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Ian Tuason, who wrote and directed the A24 horror hit Undertoneopened up about the film’s success and future. Tuason said that he actually has more films in mind. Specifically, he said he had “a trilogy in mind” for the story of Undertone, and that he and A24 are “working on” making that happen.
While it’s unclear what exactly a sequel to Undertone might entail, it likely wouldn’t include star Nina Kiri. The end of the first film seems to close out the stories of Evy and Justin (Adam DiMarco), the podcasting duo that unwittingly summons some sort of supernatural entity in the movie. Despite the unknown surrounding Undertone’s sequels, it seems like the film was successful enough to at least have A24 interested.
Following its premiere, Undertone has done well, grossing almost $10 million at the box office with a budget of just $500,000. The movie has also garnered fairly positive reviews, with the movie getting praise for its tense atmosphere, sound design, and more.
“The host of a popular paranormal podcast becomes haunted by terrifying recordings mysteriously sent her way,” reads the official synopsis.
Undertone is written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Ian Tuason in his feature directorial debut. Kiri will be the only cast member to be shown on-screen, while the rest of the cast will only be lending their voices. The movie will feature the voices of Kris Holden-Ried (The Umbrella Academy) as Justin, Michèle Duquet (The Virgin Suicides) as Mama, Keana Lyn Bastidas (The Hardy Boys) as Jessa, Jeff Yung (The Shrouds) as Mike, and more.
