2 Toy Story 5 Characters Recast in New Trailer, Actors Revealed

The first full trailer for Toy Story 5 recently dropped, building anticipation towards the film’s summer release. Alongside the trailer, Disney also shared confirmation that the voices of two franchise mainstay characters have been recast, revealing who the new actors behind them are. The upcoming film is Pixar’s second release for the year, following Hoppers, an animated sci-fi comedy.

Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head will be voiced by new actors in Toy Story 5

Disney recently confirmed Jeff Bergman and Anna Vocino as the new voices of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head in Toy Story 5.

The characters were originally voiced by Don Rickles and Estelle Harris. Rickles voiced Mr. Potato Head in the first three Toy Story films. He also voiced him in Toy Story Toons, the television specials Toy Story of Terror! and Toy Story That Time Forgot. However, he died in 2017, before he could record any lines for Toy Story 4. This resulted in creatives repurposing previously recorded lines from archival material for his role in the 2019 film.

Meanwhile, Estelle Harris voiced Mrs. Potato Head from Toy Story 2 until Toy Story 4. She also voiced the character in Toy Story Toons. However, she passed away in 2022, three years after Toy Story 4’s release, which also marked her final film role.

Mr. Potato Head’s new voice can be heard at the end of the recently released Toy Story 5 trailer. You can check it out below:

The above trailer comes three months after the teaser. The latter only provides a quick glimpse at the upcoming film’s story. However, the new trailer offers some more details.

Toy Story 5 will see Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, and the toy gang meet their new rival for owner Bonnie’s attention: a frog-themed tablet, Lilypad. The toys also reunite with Woody, who returns to the group after having left them at the end of the previous film to become a “lost toy” with Bo Peep. Notably, the trailer reveals that Woody has a bald spot at the back of his head, which he is mocked for by Lilypad, who calls him “old.”

The film hits theaters on June 19, 2026. Andrew Stanton directed the film from his and co-director McKenna Harris’s screenplay.
