Host squad announced
New Zealand has to play a 3-match T20 and as many ODI series against Sri Lanka at home, for which two different squads have been announced. This series is very important for the players before the ICC Champions Trophy to be played in February-March. For this, this will be Mitchell Santner's first challenge after becoming full time captain in ODI and T20 formats. The T20 series will start from December 28, while the ODI series will start from January 11.
These players got place
New Zealand has included dangerous players like Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Nathan Smith in its T20 squad. But surprisingly Tom Latham was not given a place in the T20 team. He is only part of the ODI squad. Apart from this, Will O'Rourke and Will Young have also been given a chance in ODI format only. It is believed that in view of the upcoming Champions Trophy, New Zealand has given some of its players a break from the T20 series.
In the recently concluded IPL mega auction, Mumbai Indians included New Zealand's young explosive batsman Bevan Jacobs in their camp. But then no one paid much attention to him. However, now Jacobs has been included in the Kiwi team for both the ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka. Mumbai had bought Bevan at a base price of Rs 30 lakh.
