Abhishek Sharma has a chance to break Kohli’s huge record, know how the record of 2016 can be broken in 2025

Abhishek’s aggressive starts contributed significantly to the Indian team winning many important matches. Thanks to his fast batting, India won the Asia Cup 2025 title, where Pakistan was defeated in the final. Apart from this, India also won the T20I series against strong teams like England and Australia. Now the team is very close to winning the five-match series against South Africa.

Along with international cricket, Abhishek Sharma has also maintained his excellent form in IPL and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). So far in the year 2025, he has scored a total of 1567 T-20 runs. This is the reason why his year can become special in the history of Indian cricket. However, for this he will have to explode in the last T20 match against South Africa in Ahmedabad.

If Abhishek scores at least 47 runs in the fifth and final T20I to be played against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, he will make a big record in his name. By scoring 47 runs, Abhishek Sharma will become the Indian batsman who has scored the most runs in a calendar year in T-20 cricket. Currently this record is in the name of Virat Kohli, who scored 1614 runs in 2016. That year, Kohli scored four centuries and batted at an average of around 90. Now Abhishek has a golden opportunity to break that historical record and set a new standard.

Talking about this series, India is currently leading 2-1. India won the first match under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, while South Africa made a comeback in Mullanpur. India again took the lead in Dharamsala, but the fourth match was canceled due to dense fog and now India cannot lose in this series whereas even if the African team wins the last match, they will only be able to draw the series.
