2026 Honda City India update: Fresh exterior, advanced features & hybrid powertrain; Is It Worth Buying?

New Delhi: Honda Cars India has introduced the 2026 City in the Indian market, marking a significant update to its popular midsize sedan lineup. The model is priced from ₹11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and represents the second major revision since 2023. The launch aims to strengthen the brand’s position in a segment that continues to see strong competition from rivals such as the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Hyundai Verna.

Exterior Design Changes

The 2026 City features a redesigned exterior with a sharper front profile. The updated fascia includes new headlamps connected by a light bar and a honeycomb-style grille. A revised bumper with triangular accents adds a more aggressive stance, while the updated Honda emblem sits prominently on the nose.

At the rear, the sedan now gets smoked tail lamps, redesigned reflector elements, and a cleaner boot lid with an integrated spoiler. Alloy wheel designs have also been refreshed, while the overall silhouette remains unchanged. Buyers can choose from multiple color options, including Crystal Black Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Obsidian Blue Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Meteorid Gray Metallic.

Interior and Features

Inside, the cabin continues with a familiar layout but gains several upgrades. The highlight is a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Comfort features include ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a sunroof, wireless charging, and an 8-speaker audio system.

On the safety front, the sedan is equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill-hold assist, and ADAS-based driver assistance features, enhancing overall protection and driving convenience.

Engine and Performance

The 2026 City retains its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 121 hp and 145 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The hybrid variant uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering 126 hp and 253 Nm of torque. It also offers a claimed fuel efficiency of up to 27.26 kmpl, making it the most efficient version in the lineup.
