Punjab Kings have appointed legendary cricketer Ricky Ponting as their new head coach for the IPL 2026 season. As per a report, Ponting has signed a multi-year contract with the Kings after he and Delhi Capitals parted ways ending his seven-year tenure at the franchise.

Notably, Punjab Kings have not qualified for the playoff since 2014, when they finished runners-up.

Former Australian cricketer Brad Haddin was appointed as the assistant coach of Punjab Kings in October 2022. The New South Wales-born was a member of the Australian World Cup winning squad at both the 2007 Cricket World Cup and the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

He also featured for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. Following his international retirement in 2015, Brad Haddin was appointed as fielding coach for the Australia national cricket team in 2018.
