India’s opener and world number 1 T20 batsman Abhishek Sharma has supported his captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubhman Gill, who are struggling with poor form, and said that both of them will perform well when it is needed most. He stressed that these two upcoming ICC men T-20 World Cup Will prove to be a match winner for India.

The bats of Suryakumar and Gill have been quiet in the ongoing five-match T20 series against South Africa. Gill’s 28 in India’s seven-wicket win in Dharamsala on Sunday was the highest score in the first three matches. But Abhishek dismissed any concerns about his form. He said that he is confident that both of them will score runs in the upcoming series and T20 World Cup.

After helping India take a 2-1 lead in the series, Abhishek said, “Let me tell you one thing clearly, trust me, both these boys will win matches in the World Cup and in other series before that. I have been playing with them, especially Shubman, for so long, so I know in what conditions, no matter who the team is, they can win matches. I have a lot of faith in them from the very beginning and I hope everyone will see it very soon.” Will see and everyone will trust him.”

The opening pair added 60 runs in just 5.2 overs, with Abhishek scoring a quickfire 35 off 18 balls and Gill taking over the innings with 28 runs off 28 balls, helping India win the match easily in 15.5 overs. However, the foundation of this easy win was laid by India’s fast bowlers when the hosts decided to bowl first. Arshdeep Singh (13 runs for 2 wickets), Harshit Rana (34 runs for 2 wickets) and Hardik Pandya (23 runs for 1 wicket) took excellent advantage of the conditions and displayed excellent swing bowling, all out South Africa at a low score of 117 runs.
