A mountain of troubles fell on the team during the T-20 series, many cricketers including Surya and Sanju will undergo doping test.

Team India: The T-20 series between India and England has started from 22 January. In the first match of this series, Team India has won over England. Young team India seems to be dominating England in this series. But meanwhile a bad news is coming out about Team India.

In this, doping cases against some players are to be investigated. Meanwhile, NADA (National Anti-Doping Agency) has expanded the scope of its anti-doping program by including several top cricketers in the Registered Testing Pool (RTP) for 2025.

Which players will be drug tested?

Many centrally contracted Team India cricketers are included in this list. Prominent names among which are men's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, Test vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, ODI team vice-captain Shubhman Gill and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. Along with this, players like Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma are also included in the new list. Women cricketers include Shefali Verma, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh Thakur.

NADA was started in 2019

Overall, the current RTP includes 14 men and women cricketers apart from athletes from other sports. NADA's Dope Control Officers (DCOs) will collect urine samples of these RTP players during the white-ball series on the upcoming England tour. DCOs will collect samples at various match venues and BCCI has been informed about the same. Introduction of RTP and earlier cases In September 2019, NADA had constituted RTP for men and women cricketers.

What is the process of doping test?

Ahead of the upcoming limited overs series, NADA has put together urine models of some of these Team India cricketers. According to the report, NADA officials may be on the field even during the match. Apart from this, if required, players will have to give their residential address, e-mail address and mobile number to NADA and will have to cooperate with NADA officials during testing.

Doping test of these players was done earlier also

Which included players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma. These Team India players used to give their details to the dope control officers of NADA so that they could be made available for testing. Warning was given in the earlier case. In June 2020, NADA had warned Pujara, Jadeja, Rahul, Mandhana and Sharma for not giving their information.
