21-hour long meeting, but why did the Iran-US peace talks collapse? What is Tehran saying?
Even after 21 hours of discussion, no solution was found. Iran-US peace talks collapsed in Pakistan. The American delegation has already left for Washington from Islamabad. But what exactly caused the collapse of the peace talks?
US Vice President JD Vance did not want to disclose any details about the meeting. However, it is said that the talks have failed mainly because of the disagreement between the two sides on Iran’s nuclear program. “The United States has already destroyed Iran’s nuclear program and enrichment facilities. But they have not given assurances that Iran will not develop nuclear weapons in the future,” Vance said at a press conference in Islamabad. The US vice president said in his statement, “We made it clear in the meeting what America wanted and what it did not want. But still no agreement was reached. We are coming back without a solution.” US President Donald Trump himself was in touch with the US delegation during the meeting. According to Vance, “He called about 6 to 12 times. We told him what Iran was saying.”
Vance also said about the collapse of the meeting, “We asked for assurances from Iran about not building a nuclear bomb. They have to say that they will not build a bomb and that they will not have the equipment or materials necessary to build a nuclear bomb. The US president also wanted to. But we could not reach an agreement.” However, he is adamant about revealing the details of the meeting.
On the other hand, Iran opened its mouth when the peace talks failed. Tehran has made it clear that there was no Rafa Sutra due to America’s ‘unreasonable demands’. Iran’s official press reported that the main goal of our delegation was to protect the interests of Iranian citizens. That is why the discussion went on for a continuous 21 hours. But despite several initiatives by Tehran, the talks stalled and failed due to unreasonable US demands.
