24 Years since melody Queen Noor Jahan’s departure

Lahore: It has been 24 years since Queen Tarnum Noor Jahan, the famous singer of the subcontinent, who enchanted her voice with timeless songs, left her fans, but her art is still alive in the hearts of her fans.

The 24th death anniversary of Malika Tarnum Noor Jahan, the famous singer of Pakistan with the Medal of Distinction and Pride of Performance is being celebrated today.

Malika Tarnum Noor Jahan was born on September 21, 1926 in Kasur, her real name was Allah Wasai while Noor Jahan was her screen name.

She started his artistic career in 1935 with the first Punjabi language film Sheela aka Pind Di Kudi as a child star named Baby Noor Jahan.

Musician Ghulam Haider introduced her as a playback singer in his film ‘Khazanchi’ in 1941 and the film ‘Khandan’ made in Bombay in the same year proved to be another milestone in his life.

During the production of this film, director Shaukat Hussain Rizvi Sian got married, after staying in Pakistan, she moved from Mumbai to Karachi with her husband Shaukat Hussain Rizvi.

She has also done many films as an actress, including Gulnar, Chinway, Dupatta, Pate Khan, Lakht Jigar, Intizar, Nyand, Koil, Chowmantar, Anar Kali and Mirza Ghalib.

In the war of 1965, O brave soldiers of the country, the blood of the martyrs will be dyed, my drums and soldiers will keep the three Lords, my fish skin, colonel and general, and the enthusiasm of the Pak army.

She was also honored with Presidential Award Tamgha Imtiaz and later Pride of Performance for her outstanding performance. Madam Noor Jahan sang more than 10 thousand ghazals and songs, most of which are still alive in people’s minds.

Queen Tarnum Noor Jahan passed away on 23 December 2000 at the age of 74. Although it seems that she is no longer with us, her songs are still very popular among the people.
