240KM long railway line being laid in UP, good news for 4 districts

Lucknow. There is great news for the people of Purvanchal and Terai regions of Uttar Pradesh. The Khalilabad-Bahraich new rail line project is now rapidly taking shape on the ground. This ambitious scheme of the Central Government is being prepared at a cost of Rs 4,940 crore and is total 240 kilometers long.

The project is divided into three phases:

First Step: Khalilabad to Bansi (54 km) – Construction is going on at the fastest pace.

second phase: Bansi to Ekauna (119 km) – Tender process completed, ballast and boulders are being collected.

third step: Ekauna to Bahraich (66 km) – Final work started.

status of construction work

Service lane is being prepared for the railway overbridge on the national highway in Khalilabad. Cutting of trees coming in the way, earth filling and other basic works are going on war footing. Administrative hurdles have also been removed. Land acquisition has been completed in most parts of Bahraich and Siddharthnagar, while the final proposal for the Shravasti section has been sent to the Railway Ministry.

The new railway line will directly connect areas like Mehdawal, Dumariyaganj, Utraula and Bhinga. Along with this, new doors of tourism and employment will be opened by connecting the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Shravasti and Devipatan temple with rail service.

Four districts will be connected

Through this project, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Bahraich and Shravasti will be connected to the rail network. This will make travel easier and faster for the people of Purvanchal. The Railway Ministry plans to complete this project by the end of 2026, so that the people of the district can benefit from it.
