This horrific accident happened at the Birch by Romeo Lane club located in Arpora village of Goa when there was a blast in the kitchen area. Most of the people were working there. As soon as the fire broke out, there was chaos. According to eyewitnesses, instead of running outside, people ran towards the basement, where a blanket of smoke had already spread.

Of those killed in the accident, 20 people died of suffocation, while the bodies of three people were found badly burnt. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant described the incident as a ‘very painful day’ for the state and ordered an investigation into the matter.
