2500 policemen will be deployed in Delhi on New Year, only these vehicles will get entry in Connaught Place Circle.

People in the country have made preparations to welcome the New Year in their own style. On this occasion, Delhi Police has issued an advisory for the people in view of the New Year. People have also been warned not to break any rules and follow them.

Meanwhile, Zone 1 Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Monica Bhardwaj said, ‘Strict arrangements will be made by the traffic police across Delhi on New Year’s Eve. There will be around 100 checkpoints in Delhi to check drunk driving, and all arrangements will be made in areas where crowding is expected… Only passing vehicles will be allowed inside Connaught Place Circle… India Gate is usually crowded, so there will be some restrictions there too… If people have to go to the railway station or anywhere else, they should leave well in advance… Around 1200 policemen will be deployed on New Year’s Eve, and Altogether, around 2500 policemen will be deployed.

Vehicles will not be able to go to Connaught Place

After 7 pm, entry of vehicles will be closed on many roads leading to Connaught Place. There will be a ban on going towards CP from many major roads including Minto Road, Mandi House, Bengali Market, Gol Market, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Ferozshah Road, Jai Singh Road. No vehicle will be allowed in the inner, middle and outer circles of Connaught Place without a valid pass.

Restrictions on India Gate also

There will be traffic control around India Gate on New Year’s Eve. If the crowd increases, vehicles will not be allowed towards C-Hexagon and India Gate and traffic will be diverted to other routes. There will also be a huge shortage of parking here, hence people have been advised to use public transport. Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to the people to avoid going to these areas unnecessarily, use metro and public transport as much as possible and follow traffic rules.
