27 agreements between India and Israel, both countries will together increase military strength!
New Delhi. Relations between India and Israel have crossed another important milestone. A total of 27 important outcomes were announced by both the countries after the two-day state visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These include 17 agreements (MoUs) and 10 major strategic announcements. Their objective is to make bilateral relations comprehensive, technology-based and focused on people-to-people interests.
Both countries announced to expand their relations to “Special Strategic Partnership”. The Joint Committee on Science and Technology was elevated to ministerial level, while a new initiative on critical and emerging technologies has been launched under the leadership of the National Security Advisor. This step will further strengthen cooperation in defence, cyber and advanced technology sectors.
Big step in digital payments and remittances
An agreement has been signed between NPCI and MASAV under digital cooperation. It aims to make cross-border remittances easier and faster through India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
Geophysical and Mineral Exploration
Under the agreement in the field of geophysical exploration, exploration of mineral resources will be promoted using advanced geophysical and AI technologies. There will be special emphasis on data sharing, investment attraction and sustainable resource development.
Cooperation in innovation in agriculture and fisheries sector
In the agriculture sector, ICAR and MASHAV have agreed to set up the India-Israel Innovation Center for Agriculture. This center will work on precision farming, satellite based irrigation and modern agricultural machinery. MoUs have also been signed to promote advanced technology, mariculture and disease management in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
Cultural links and maritime heritage
It has also been agreed to cooperate in the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex located in Lothal, Gujarat. The shared maritime heritage will be promoted through exhibitions, research, publications and exchange of experts. It has also been agreed to run a cultural exchange program from 2026 to 2029, under which cooperation in music, dance, theater and visual arts will increase.
Financial and technical cooperation
In the financial sector, a cooperation agreement has been signed between IFSCA and ISA, which will strengthen the partnership in FinTech and RegTech. It has also been agreed to promote ethical AI, research and public-private partnerships in the field of Artificial Intelligence. A separate MoU has been signed to promote AI based human-centred learning in education.
Education and Academic Collaboration
Academic cooperation agreement has been signed between Nalanda University and Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Under this, faculty and student exchange will be encouraged in subjects like Buddhist studies, archaeology, mathematics and international relations. A Letter of Intent has also been signed towards setting up an Indo-Israel Cyber Center of Excellence in India in the field of cyber security.
