3 Affordable Volkswagen Cars That’ll Start From Rs 10 Lakh
The German automaker Volkswagen has always been seen as a premium automaker. However, in order to boost its sales in India, the company now offers cars which start at Rs 10 lakh, and there will be a few more that will be launched in the coming period. So if you want to know which new Volkswagen cars are coming with a starting price of around Rs 10 lakh, then you are at the correct spot.
Volkswagen Taigun facelift
Just like the soon-to-be-launched Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun will also be getting a much-needed facelift this year. Recently, an almost fully undisguised test mule of this SUV was spotted testing on public roads. It has revealed that the front of the SUV will be getting a Tiguan R-Line-inspired front fascia. It will consist of a set of sleeker LED headlights with new LED DRLs.
Additionally, there will be a connected LED DRL in the middle, and the Volkswagen logo at the centre will also be illuminated. Apart from these, the bumper will also be new, and on the side the set of alloy wheels will also be new. As for the rear as well, it has been revealed that it will be getting a set of sleeker LED taillights with a connecting light bar in the middle.
Like the Kushaq, the new Taigun is also expected to get a new color scheme inside the cabin along with a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster. It could also be getting the same rear seat massage functions and a panoramic sunroof as the Kushaq facelift.
On the powertrain side of things, Volkswagen will continue to offer the 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque-producing 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine. However, this time around it will be getting an 8-speed automatic gearbox instead of the 6-speed unit. As for the standard gearbox, it will be a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Additionally, the Taigun will continue to get the same 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine making 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. But this time it will be only offered with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Pricing of the upcoming Taigun will be around Rs 11 lakh.
Volkswagen Virtus facelift

The mid-size sedan Virtus is currently the most popular Volkswagen offering in India. Last month, in February, Volkswagen sold 1,804 units of the Virtus, making it the highest-selling VW car in India. Prior to this, in January of this year, the company dispatched 1,881 units. Now, in order to keep these sales figures intact, the company is working on the development of the Virtus facelift in India.
This time around, the Virtus facelift is expected to get an updated front fascia with sharper LED headlights and DRLs with a connecting light in the middle. Additionally, the front bumper, alloy wheels, and rear end design will also change. Notable feature upgrades will include a panoramic sunroof, a bigger digital instrument gauge cluster, new color scheme for upholstery, and a few other features.
Powertrain options will remain the same as the Taigun facelift mentioned above. As for the pricing, the Volkswagen Virtus is expected to start with a price tag of Rs 10.5 lakh. Once launched towards the end of this year, it will be rivalling its cousin sibling, the Slavia facelift, new Verna facelift, and the Honda City in India.
Volkswagen sub-4m SUV

Inspired by the Skoda Kylaq, which has become the best-selling vehicle in its lineup, Volkswagen is also gearing up to bring the Kylaq-like sub-compact SUV. This SUV could borrow its design from the Volkswagen Tera, which was launched in Brazil recently. At the moment, the date of launch of the Volkswagen sub-4m SUV has not been revealed.
However, there are reports which have suggested that it could be making its debut in the second half of this year. It will be based on the same MQB A0 IN platform which currently underpins all the affordable cars from Skoda and Volkswagen India. Powertrain-wise, it will get the same 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine. As for the pricing, it is expected to start from Rs 8-9 lakh in India.
