3 Indian players who will now get regular opportunities in the ODI team, BCCI gave a hint from the Champions Trophy squad
Team India squad Champions Trophy 2025: BCCI announced the Indian team squad for Champions Trophy 2025 on January 18. This tournament is to start from February 19 to be hosted by Pakistan and India will play its matches in Dubai. Team India's squad for the Champions Trophy includes most of the key players, in which the responsibility of captaincy is in the hands of Rohit Sharma. At the same time, Shubhman Gill will be seen as his deputy. Apart from this, strong players like Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami will also shine in the tournament.
However, there were some players who were not included in the Champions Trophy squad by BCCI. The names of Sanju Samson and Mohammad Siraj are mainly included among the dropped players. There are some players who are not seen regularly in ODIs but now by selecting them in the Champions Trophy, BCCI has indicated that these players will get more opportunities in the future. In this article we are going to mention 3 such players.
3. Washington Sundar
Spin all-rounder Washington Sundar made a comeback in all three formats last year and has now become an important player. Recently on the Australia tour, he was played in Perth despite Ravichandran Ashwin being there. Now he has also been selected for the Champions Trophy. Despite making his ODI debut in 2017, Sundar has played only 22 matches so far. It is clear that he has not been a part of the plans regularly but now it seems that he may get a chance in the ODI team on a regular basis after the Champions Trophy.
2. Arshdeep Singh
The selection committee for the Champions Trophy has chosen left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh in place of Mohammed Siraj. Arshdeep is India's leading pacer in T20 International but has played only 8 matches in the 50 over format so far. However, now it seems that the selectors are quite impressed with his performance and he will be seen playing regularly in the ODI team as well.
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal
Left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored consistently for India since his debut in Tests and T20Is. Although, he has not yet got a chance to debut in ODI, but now it seems that looking at the future, Yashasvi's luck may shine soon. This batsman has been selected as the backup opener for the Champions Trophy. In such a situation, BCCI has given a hint that now the time has come for Jaiswal to get regular opportunities in the ODI team, which we can see after the Champions Trophy.
