3 dilapidated bridges in UP to be repaired, great news for the people

Unnao. Another important step has been taken in the direction of strengthening infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. With only a few months left for the financial year to end, the government has started giving priority to new works in the districts as well as the repair of dilapidated roads and bridges. In this sequence, it has been decided to repair two major and one small bridge in Unnao district.

The three bridges in Unnao that are proposed to be repaired were in a bad condition for a long time. There is daily movement of common people along with heavy vehicles from these bridges, due to which there was a possibility of accidents. The Public Works Department (PWD) had sent a proposal to the government for repair and strengthening in view of the condition of these bridges, which has now been approved.

A budget of Rs 79 lakh approved

The government has approved a budget of about Rs 79 lakh for the repair of the three bridges. As soon as the budget is released, the Public Works Department has started the tender process for timely completion of the works. The department aims to make the bridges safe and smooth traffic worthy within the stipulated time frame.

Which bridges will be repaired

The first bridge among the bridges selected for repair is located at Hafizabad-Baruaghat on the Fatehpur Chaurasi road in Bangarmau assembly constituency. The second bridge falls on the state road Sandila-Chakalvanshi-Bithoor-Chaubeypur road in the Sadar assembly constituency. The third bridge is also located on the Kali Mitti-Fatehpur Chaurasi-Dabouli Shivrajpur other district road in Bangarmau assembly constituency.

Fixed budget for individual bridges

The department has set a separate budget for each bridge. About Rs 29.50 lakh will be spent on the repair of Hafizabad-Baruaghat bridge. The bridge on the Sandila-Chakalvanshi-Bithoor-Chaubeypur road has been fixed at a cost of Rs 32.20 lakh, while the bridge on the Kali Mitti-Fatehpur Chaurasi-Dabouli Shivrajpur road will cost around Rs 17 lakh.

Work to be completed in two months

The three bridges come under the construction block I of the Public Works Department. The department’s Executive Engineer Subodh Kumar has invited tenders for the repair works. A maximum time limit of two months has been fixed for repairing the bridges and completing the necessary safety works.
